The New York Red Bulls have a new coach in town, and team legends like what they’re seeing from him. USMNT legend Michael Bradley has traded his position on the pitch for a spot in the managers box, and the results have followed. Bradley has brought a fresh mentality and play style to the Red Bulls — affectionately referred to as Bradley Ball by fans — and he currently has his team in a playoff position. At fifth place in the Eastern Conference, the Red Bulls own a 6-5-4 record. He’s got a good way of thinking out a game plan or having a way of playing and making the players understand that in the easiest possible way. “And I think you could see that from the first game in preseason or second game when they played a couple of matches. “First game of the MLS season when they beat Orlando, I know Orlando haven’t been great, but you could see exactly in that match what they’re trying to do. “They want to play good football, expansive, but also want to be good against the ball. And I think he’s done a really good job of showing that.” The Red Bulls get back into action on Wednesday, July 22, and Wright-Phillips believes Bradley needs to focus on one thing to continue his success. “Now it’s about consistency for Michael,” he said. “I think because he’s coaching the New York Red Bulls, he’s going to get a lot of stick because of the history of the Red Bulls. “But the people have to understand that there’s going to be ups and downs. He’s a young coach. It’s a young team. “So when it looks good, don’t get too excited. When it goes down, don’t get too angry. This is just the path they’re on. It’s a good team. They’ve started off very well.”
